How does the hydrocolloid acne patch Work?
Hydrocolloid is the key functional material in acne patches. Its mechanism combines physical absorption, biocompatibility, and microenvironment regulation to effectively manage mild acne lesions (such as whiteheads or inflamed pimples) and promote skin healing. The specific mechanisms are as follows:
1. Absorption of Exudate
Inflamed or pus-filled pimples produce exudate, including tissue fluid, pus, and inflammatory mediators.
Hydrocolloid materials are highly absorbent and actively draw out this fluid, reducing local swelling and pressure, thereby relieving redness, swelling, and pain.
✅ Effect: Keeps the area clean and dry, preventing infection after a pimple ruptures.
2. Formation of a Protective Gel Layer
After absorbing fluid, hydrocolloid components (e.g., sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) swell and form a hydrophilic gel. This gel layer acts as a physical barrier on the surface of the pimple.
Blocks external contaminants such as bacteria, dust, and finger contact.
Prevents unconscious picking or squeezing.

3. Creation of a Moist Wound Healing Environment

Post-Use Observations:
You may notice: 1) the patch turns white, bubbles, or softens in the center. This is the hydrocolloid absorbing fluid and forming gel, which is normal.
2)White residue on the skin. This is the gel formed from hydrocolloid and exudate; it can be gently wiped off.
✅ Best for: Popped pimples, oozing whiteheads, minor post-procedure wounds, mask-induced acne.
Not suitable for: Closed comedones (non-inflamed bumps) or deep cystic acne (requires other treatments or use our microdarts patch for better efficacy).
Tip: For best results, use overnight (8–10 hours). Patches with added antibacterial ingredients (e.g., tea tree oil, salicylic acid, or other actives) may enhance effectiveness.
